CURRENT NEWS

The Arkansas State Chamber/AIA has established a coalition, "Arkansans FOR the Secret Ballot - Protect Your Privacy at Work". This Coalition has taken a stance on the "Employee Free Choice Act, and is scheduling seminars throughout the state on this Act, which poses potentially grave consequences to employers and employees alike. For the text of their October 1 email, click here.

Several months ago SHRM posted a letter to the HR Voice that addressed employer concerns with this act. This letter was designed for SHRM members wishing to express their concern to their US Representatives and Senators. For a revised copy of that letter, click here.

ENTERPRISING LEADERSHIP

The 2009 SHRM Enterprising Leadership book has 182 submissions from 168 state councils and chapters, including a submission by NEASHRM, Chapter Internship. You may click on the link below to view the searchable PDF version, available online in the Volunteer Resource Center.

As 2007-2008 Chair Janet Parker noted in her Forward to the book, "This isn't the end of such initiatives - it is only the beginning. State Councils, chapters, and the membership will continue to lead the way in developing innovative, long-range strategies to meet the needs of their members and communities. The impact will be felt for years to come."
