Membership
NEA SHRM is a 100% chapter. Our by-laws require that:
- Every local member must maintain National SHRM membership.
- Memberships are individual and are not transferable to other individuals.
- Applications shall be reviewed by the Vice-President for Membership.
- A majority vote of the membership present at the next meeting of the NEASHRM chapter shall be required for a person to become a member.
- Initial annual dues are prorated based on month of enrollment.
Membership Categories
Regular Members
- Regular members include those individuals actively engaged in bona fide human resources administration on an indefinite basis and who devote a substantial portion (typically at least fifty percent (50%) of their time to personnel, human resources or industrial relations functions;
- Regular members also include faculty members holding an assistant professor rank, associate professor rank, full professor rank or full-time instructor in personnel, human resources or industrial relations or their specialized phases at an accredited college or university with responsible experience at this level of teaching;
- Regular members include full-time consultants or attorneys with at least three (3) years’ experience who practice in the field of human resources management.
- Dues for calendar year 2010 are $75 and include attendance at all regular chapter meetings and member rates to chapter-sponsored seminars and special events.
Associate Members
- 1. Associate members shall meet all requirements for regular membership, but must live and work more than twenty (20) miles, using the shortest driving distance, from the center of the City of Jonesboro, Arkansas.
- Associate members shall not have the right to vote and shall not serve as voting members of the Board.
- Dues and privileges afforded Associate members shall be established by the Board. Dues for calendar year 2010 are $50 and include attendance at up to four regular meetings and participation in chapter-sponsored seminars and other events at the member rate.
Student Members
- Student members must be enrolled either as full-time or part-time students in the equivalent of at least six (6) credit hours, at freshman standing or higher
- Student members may be enrolled in a four-year or graduate institution and/or a consortium of these or a two-year community college with a matriculation agreement between it and a four-year-college or university which provides for automatic acceptance of the community college students into the four-year college or university.
- Student members must be able to provide verification of a demonstrated emphasis in human resource management subjects, and
- Student members must be able to provide verification of the college or university’s human resources or related degree program.
- Student members may not vote or hold office in the Chapter
- Dues for calendar year 2010 are $0 and include attendance at all regular chapter meetings and attendance at chapter seminars at the member rate.
